A holistic Guide to Always Traveling In Comfort
Are you looking to travel more comfortably? Do you love to travel but hate the actual journey to get to your destination? If you’re reading this then, my guess is you’ve been on at least one flight you have found very uncomfortable. Trust me, I have been on my fair share of uncomfortable flights. However, I have great news! You do not have to do much to make your travel experience a bit more comfortable. In the post, I’ll share several tips on how you can travel more comfortably on your long flights, road trips and so much more. Let’s dive right in!

Check in Overhead Carry-ons
I know this sounds crazy but hear me out. It’s always less hustle and more comfortable to travel light. Once you check in your carry on as against lugging it around the airport and carrying it to store in the overhead compartment, you’re free to relax and not be bothered by any other significant weight. Just pack all your essentials into a tote or backpacks and breeze through security and the airport light weight. You can even relax at the boarding area and allow everyone to board first since you’re in no rush to secure an overhead compartment space. You don’t need it! You can just tuck your purse under your seat and another plus; it’s easily accessible throughout the flight especially if you have that window seat…
Get a Window Seat
This brings me to my second tip to get a window seat. Trust me, you won’t regret it! You get the additional support and somewhere to rest your body on those long flights. In order to ensure that good window seat in the middle of the plane, it’s important to check in online early or get to the airport early. And don’t forget to simply ask the agent at the counter at check in!

Dress Smart and Comfortably
If you want to travel comfortably, it’s imperative to dress the part. Wear layers in order to layer up or down as needed throughout the journey. Comfortably sweats/joggers, leggings, tees, sweaters and jackets are ideal. Make sure you wear your most comfortable shoes and bring compression socks! They’re easy to find and pretty affordable. According to healthline, compression socks can help boost blood circulation in your legs, support veins and diminish swelling. Why don’t you get some compression socks here so you can travel comfortably!
Bring some Ear Plugs or Noise Cancelling Headphones
Sometimes you’re not just in the mood of all the chattiness and crying babies (actually is anyone ever in the mood?)
Bring some ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones with you so you can block out all the noise around you were never you so please and stay comfortable
Hydrate
The plane can be very drying since it’s at a very high altitude and very cold so cannot hold much moisture. Drink lots of water and minimize/avoid alcohol and soda to prevent dehydration. A good face mask, eye mask and chapstick can also keep your skin and lips moisturized, soft and supple.
Bring your Own Entertainment
Sometimes you can be on a long flight and it may feel like tome has been frozen. I recommend you download and bring your favorite shows, movies and audiobooks! You can sign up to audible and get I free book and two free audible originals. I love listening to audiobooks and watching my favorite shows on my long flights and it absolutely helps to pass time!
Get TSA PreCheck & Global Entry
There’s nothing like beating those long lines at the TSA checkpoint and immigration lines whenever you travel. It’s worth the investment and makes for a smooth airport transition and experience.
If you plan on getting both, apply for global entry first since global entry gives you access to TSA PreCheck at $100 for a five year membership. TSA Precheck on its own cost $85. You can apply for global entry here and TSA PreCheck here.
Bring your Own Food
Pack a light lunch, dinner or snacks and bring with you on your long flights and road trips. Most airlines are known to have terrible food especially in economy seating and it’s always a good idea to bring your own. Some airlines will sometimes charge you premium prices to buy snacks onboard. Bring your own food! You’ll save a ton and you’re guaranteed a good meal
Request for Seat Upgrades for Comfortable Travel
Did you know you can request for upgrades at the gate or with the airline customer service over the phone? Oh that’s great? How about sometimes for free? You simply have to ask and be loyal to one airline. Be sure to signup for airline reward programs!
It really helps to stay loyal to a particular airline so that way your acquire a high status with that airline and receive perks. Do not forget to sign up for whatever loyalty program the airline has to take advantage of these perks!
American Airlines Citi platinum card, chase sapphire and delta skymiles credit card are some credit cards to help you gain miles and points you can use towards travel and upgrades for added comfort
Get a Travel Neck Pillow & Blanket to Travel Comfortably
Ever been given a blanket by the airline and still felt freezing cold on your flight? Then realize you have to bear this for your entire 13 hour flight? Yes, don’t let this be you! I had to learn this the hard way. Invest and a nice and comfortable neck pillow and blanket. Amazon has some amazing and affordable ones and you could get it as quick as same day delivery with their amazon prime membership program
Get an Airport Lounge Pass for Comfort at Airports
Airport lounge passes come in very handy and highly recommended if you’re usually on long layover flights. Most airport lounges provide extremely comfortable seating, beds, restrooms, champagne bars and food. It sometimes ends up being cost effective since you do not have to even spend extra for food and drinks at the airport with a pass. Most airlines give first and business class customers access to their airport lounges. You can sign up for priority pass. Priority pass gives you access to lounges however you fly at a cost.
Travel during Low Season & Holidays
Traveling off the beaten path or during low seasons could score you an entire row to self. You could lift up arm rest and sleep comfortably. Also, you could easily get your upgrade requests honored since there’s enough room on the plane. During some holidays like Christmas Day, airlines even give their customers special meals for spending the holiday with them. Obviously most people would much rather spend their Christmas Day with their loved ones as opposed to being on a long flight ha!
I hope I haven’t been rambling for too long and I have been able to provide you some value and you can now travel more comfortably on your next trip.
