Hey Boos! So I decided to share my all time favorite smoothie recipe. We’re basically family now so I figured I spill the tea…
I call it ‘STRAW NANA’
All you will need in this smoothie recipe are 5 ingredients. Yes, FIVE! Leonardo da Vinci says it best — “Simplicity is the Ultimate Sophistication”.
Strawberry 🍓 ( if you guessed it, clap 👏🏾 for yourself!) — I mean what’s a smoothie without strawberries? I usually do not like them on their own but they’re always amazing in smoothies, A L W A Y S !!! YUM 😋
According to July 2013 Harvard heart letter “blueberries, strawberries are a tasty way to protect the heart” - PROTECT THE HEART PEOPLE!
Banana 🍌— of course I mean again, straw... nana... got it? Ha!
According to medicalnewstoday.com, eating bananas could help lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of cancer and asthma. Ooo what are you waiting for? (takes a bite of banana with a side eye)
Yoghurt, preferably probiotic yoghurt — I mean if you want to reduce the frequency of minor digestive discomfort such as bloating, gas, abdominal discomfort and rumbling, this is always a plus. My favorite is LA Probiotic Yoghurt (not sponsored, I wish!)
Milk — I prefer almond milk but this is really optional; if you’re lactose intolerant or just prefer not to drink milk, you can avoid this ingredient completely.
Ginger — my final and secret ingredient; this takes your smoothie to a whole new level, I mean 💯. I first found out about this from my mom but I recently started doing this again when my friend made a smoothie for us after a workout last year and included ginger. It gives your smoothie the perfect kick and freshness and great when you have a sore throat (you simply add as much as you can bear but little goes a long way)
Oooouuu and the benefits of ginger are endless! According to coach nine, it’s an anti-inflammatory, relieves muscle pain (with my tunnel carpal syndrome — say no more), settles the stomach, can help regulate blood sugar, prevents heart disease, reduces risk of diabetes, reduces risk of cancer, eases menstrual pain (to my ladies, you better hop on this), fights infections and improves brain function! (long list right?). I just love cooking with ginger!
Okay so I lied 🤥, I have something for all my sweet toothed peeps — HONEY 🍯, honey yes HONEY; just add a tablespoon or two n it’ll elevate your smoothie to even greater heights
From here I’m guessing you know the drill right? Just throw it all in a great food processor/blender of your choice. I would advice to put yoghurt and milk in first to make the mixture easier to blend.
Use little to no milk for a thicker consistency.
And wait.... MAKE SURE ALL YOUR FRUITS ARE FROZEN — you can simply buy regular strawberries and bananas from your local grocers, clean and cut them up and freeze to use as needed.
Now go on your merry way... you should be salivating ...
